Taylah exemplifies dedication, resilience and leadership in her role as Situational Incident Response Officer (SIRO) at Ventia Australia. With responsibility for ensuring the safety of 320,000 road users daily, Taylah operates in a high-risk, high-speed environment.
Her journey began with the Royal Australian Corps of Transport, where she served from 2017 to 2021. During her military career, Taylah completed deployments to Afghanistan and contributed to Operation COVID Assist. Her service earned her the Commanders Award of Excellence for Operation COVID Assist and recognition as a Student of Merit in 2018 at the School of Trucks.
In 2022, Taylah moved to the male dominant field of Traffic Incident Management Services (TIMS) as the only female team member. Drawing on her military experience, she quickly adapted, demonstrated remarkable competence, and set a new standard in her role. Taylah has been a trailblazer, becoming the first female SIRO and inspiring other female veterans to join the team, with five additional women now part of the SIRO ranks.
Taylah's leadership extends beyond her professional duties. She introduced the memorialization of the fleet, naming vehicles after fallen soldiers and peers who have tragically lost their lives. This initiative not only honours their memory but fosters a respectful and open environment for more meaningful conversations among staff.
Recognised as Ventia’s SIRO of the Year for two consecutive years, Taylah’s contribution and impact on her peers and the broader community reflect her unwavering commitment and exceptional performance.
