Saab Australia has been providing high-technology military systems to the Australian Defence organisation since 1988. Its primary business is the development, integration, production and support of advanced operational systems, mainly for Defence, but also civil security applications. Its core capabilities in engineering, through-life support, integration, innovation and project management delivers services to customers across the naval, air, land and security domains.

Saab Australia has always benefited from a high proportion of veteran employees, but the organisation started actively engaging with the broader veteran community by running a series of informal veteran employment activities from 2017. These activities were driven by the appointment of a Veteran Employment Advocate. In 2022, this initiative was further developed and formalised into a Veteran and Defence Partner Employment Program, supported by a Charter and a Veteran Advisory Committee (VAC), comprising both veteran and non-veteran employees.

Saab Australia has 113 veterans in a total workforce of 762 employees, making the veteran community approximately 15% of its Australian workforce. This proportion of veterans has been maintained since the company started tracking veteran statistics in 2017.
