Nadia, the founder of Veterans Psychology, is a psychologist with an impressive background in the ADF. Serving for 11 years, Nadia undertook operational tours in Afghanistan and the Solomon Islands, which deeply informed her understanding of military experiences and mental health. Her move from military career to founding Veterans Psychology reflects her unwavering commitment to supporting veterans and veteran families.
Under Nadia’s leadership, Veterans Psychology has achieved remarkable growth and success. The organisation boasts a team of 13 psychologists, with 11 being current or former ADF members or family members of veterans. This unique composition enables the organisation to deliver exceptional, veteran-focused psychological services. Nadia's extensive experience in clinical counselling, program design, project management, and governance has been pivotal in shaping the organisations success.
Veterans Psychology stands out for its innovative approach to addressing the needs of veterans and military families. Nadia recognised the isolation and burnout faced by military psychologists working in the private sector and established Veterans Psychology to bridge this gap. The organisation connects the community with psychologists who have firsthand military experience, offering a unique understanding of the challenges faced by veterans. This approach not only improves service delivery but also creates employment opportunities for psychologists who are veterans or for veteran family members.
Nadia's ability to work under pressure and navigate ambiguous environments, exemplified by her experience in psychological screenings in Afghanistan, further highlights her expertise and dedication.
Nadia's vision and leadership continue to drive Veterans Psychology success, reinforcing her role as a leading advocate and innovator in her field. Her work enriches the lives of veterans and veteran families, strengthens the community, and enhances Australia’s mental health landscape.
