Since joining GHD in 2015 Damian Drain has played a key role in overseeing the growth of GHD’s defence business capability and reputation, both domestically and across the Pacific. Damian’s achievements are multifaceted, combining elements of his broad engineering, project management and leadership skills, gained from two decades in the Australian Army.
Damian has played a pivotal role in promoting the value of veteran employment, aided the successful recruitment of veterans and supports mentoring and coaching of GHD’s veteran employees and young professionals.
Damian’s military skills and knowledge have helped GHD diversify its client base and the types of work it does for the Australian Defence Force. Damian led the GHD team providing technical advice for the Army Aboriginal Community Assistance program, guided GHD’s submission for Defence’s Navy Capability Infrastructure program and led Scoping studies to support capacity building initiatives in Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Fiji.
