Ben Whitham is a cyber security entrepreneur and engineer who continues to consult and design security solutions, primarily in areas associated with cyber deception. Ben is also a sought after lecturer and speaker. After a career in the Australian Army, Ben worked as a consultant in Australian Government and commercial cyber incident response teams and cofounded several companies, including M5 Network Security, AGIS, Penten and deception.ai.

Penten, an Australian owned cyber security SME based in Canberra, has a vision to continually deliver disruptive cyber security capability to defence and government, to solve tomorrow’s cyber security threats. Ben continues to actively support veterans through transition, often employing them or providing support through his connections and experience.

Penten has rapidly grown over the past three years and currently has a team of 55, 30% of which are veterans. The company has enjoyed a zero attrition rate which is attributed to its respectful and empowering work environment and family culture. Penten was named Australian Business of the Year at the 2018 Telstra Business Awards.
