Michael’s career as a soldier spanned 17 years and he transitioned through several posting locations and ranks. Although many of the roles were challenging, they enabled Michael to develop his leadership and communication skills, which prepared him well for the next chapter of his career.
After his service with the Army, in October 2018, Michael made the career-defining decision to separate from the Australian Defence Force and take up a position within the Linfox Government and Defence business unit. While this was a difficult decision, he believed the time was right to seek new challenges and experiences in the private sector.
Michael spent his initial 14-month apprenticeship within the organisation at Puckapunyal as the Site Manager of Warehouse and Distribution Operations. Michael used this role to expand his understanding of how his military skills and leadership could best be applied in the private sector, conduct networking activities and gain valuable knowledge on the operation of the business.
The National Management team quickly recognised Michael’s leadership and communication abilities. In February 2020 Michael was promoted to the Regional Manager position at Joint Logistics Unit (Victoria). He now manages the largest warehouse and distribution area for the business unit encompassing both Victoria and Tasmania.
