After completing high school, Jared joined The Royal Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in April 2005, inspired by his father and grandfather’s positive experiences in the military and his desire to contribute to Australia’s sovereignty.
Jared’s contribution to Defence capability and operations continues beyond his time in uniform. Voluntarily transitioning out of the ADF in January 2013, Jared leveraged his technical skills to quickly secure a supervisor role at a Brisbane-based electrical and refrigeration business. Jared joined Downer Defence in January 2015 as an electrician dedicated to the Defence Estate Maintenance and Operations Services (EMOS) contract. He has consistently progressed through managerial roles that support the upkeep of the Defence Estate, drawing on his project management and leadership skills obtained through his years of service.
Jared’s first promotion came after only four months with Downer Defence, to the role of site supervisor. With a strong work ethic and an inspiring approach to leadership, Jared was promoted to National Estate Upkeep Advisor in 2016 before shifting his focus to operations in 2018 as Assistant Operations Manager. Jared was promoted again in 2020 to the role of EMOS Area Operations Manager for Townsville and Central Queensland. He now works as Downer Defence’s Property and Asset Services Lead for the Base Services Transformation Program, which aims to redesign Defence base services contracts to be agile, collaborative, innovative and responsive to future changes in the geopolitical environment.
