The ACT Public Service (ACTPS) is a diverse organisation with responsibilities ranging from management of Namadgi National Park to green/brown-field development fronts, from buses to fire engines, from municipal services to the health, education and justice systems, and from supporting the most vulnerable people in our community to fostering business development and innovation.
The ACT Government's Veteran's Employment Strategy aligns with the broader focus of the ACTPS to build a diverse, agile, responsive and innovative public service that delivers the ACT Government’s priorities and provides effective services for the ACT community. ACTPS hosts a veterans’ employment website with a number of resources aimed at Australian Defence Force members, veterans and their family members as well as ACTPS employees; including an ACTPS Veterans’ Employment Transition; a Classification Guide to assist veterans to compare ADF ranks and ACTPS classification levels; ACTPS Veterans’ Employment Register; and a Guide to Employing Veterans in the ACTPS.
The ACTPS has launched its veterans’ mentoring program in November 2019. Mentors have received training and the program will formally run for six months. The program is open to ACTPS employees who are veterans or spouses and provides an opportunity for participants to build on their career skills and to connect with professional networks and individuals across the ACTPS.
